The season for landscape waste collection will take from April 1st through November 30th each year. Landscape waste collection will take place on the same day as refuse/recycling collection each week with the following options available.

Each household can subscribe for landscape waste collection service for a flat annual rate. This rate will cover up to ten (10) plastic containers or kraft type bags per week not exceeding 32 gallons each. Anything above ten (10) containers will require a prepaid landscape waste sticker to be affixed to each container.

For an additional fee residents may subscribe to the food scrap subscription program which allows for approved food scrap material to be mixed with yard waste and includes a 95 gallon cart. Please contact the office for additional details.

Pay Per Bag/Sticker Program: All properly prepared containers (plastic containers and kraft type bags not exceeding 32 gallons in size of or 50 pounds in weight) set out for collection with a prepaid sticker will be collected.

‍Curbside Leaf Collection: Groot will provide leaf vacuum collection services each fall. This collection is for leaves only (no branches or grass). The schedule shall be outlined through notification by the Township. Groot asks that residents rake all leaves intended for collection within three feet of the curb.

Tree limbs, branches or brush must be cut to no more than four feet in length, bundled no greater than two feet in diameter and not to exceed 50 pounds each.

Christmas Trees: Christmas trees will be collected on your normal solid waste collection day between January 2nd and January 25th at no additional charge.

The program includes collection of one bulk item on a weekly basis at no additional cost (this does not include appliances or oversized/overweight items).

Bulk items include: boxes, crates, furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance. Exceptions include items which are banned from direct disposal into a landfill. (appliances, tires, car batteries, TV’s, electronic waste).

Oversized and overweight items are any single large or extra heavy item that requires Groot to schedule a special pick-up. An example of an oversized item is a piano, hot tub, or any item that requires two or more people to lift. There will be an additional fee per item.

Groot will collect refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, dehumidifiers, and other white goods for an additional fee. Residents must call Groot at 847-693-2700 to schedule collection of white goods. Items should not be placed at the curb until the evening before the scheduled collection.

Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, mixing electronics with regular landfill waste is prohibited. All collected items are securely recycled and made inoperable. For sensitive electronics like hard drives, we offer convenient front, side, or drive-up pickups. You can also drop off items at local collection sites, many free of charge. Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must contact us in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.
