Fremont Township offers various trash and recycling services, including two curbside collection programs: Unlimited and Limited. Residents can enjoy discounts, such as a senior discount for those aged 65+, and easy scheduling for bulk and oversized item disposal.

Fremont Township Trash and Recycling Services
Service Day
Refuse and recycling collection takes place in Fremont Township on Friday’s each week. All material must be placed out for collection by 6:00 am.
Refuse and Recycling Collection Services
Fremont Township residents have the option to choose between the Unlimited and Limited collection program. Please contact Groot at 847-693-2700 for pricing and more information on these programs.
Unlimited Curbside Collection Program
- Residents will be provided with one (1) 95 gallon refuse cart and one (1) 65 gallon recycling cart at no charge.
- Any additional refuse in properly prepared containers will be collected. Containers must be waterproof, durable metal or plastic materials, with a tight fitting cover and with handles.
- Additional cart rental available for an additional fee.
- Senior discount for residents 65 years & older. Please apply for senior discount by sending proof of age with a valid ID to [email protected].
Limited Curbside Collection
- Residents will be provided with one (1) 65 gallon refuse cart and one (1) 65 gallon recycling cart at no charge.
- Any additional refuse material not fitting inside the cart must be placed in properly prepared containers with a prepaid sticker affixed. Containers must be waterproof, durable metal or plastic materials, with a tight fitting cover and with handles.
- Senior discount for residents 65 years & older. Please apply for senior discount by sending proof of age with a valid ID to [email protected].
For those residents requesting commercial containers for household waste please contact Groot to arrange for delivery. All containers are serviced weekly. Please contact Groot for availability and pricing.
Yard Waste Collection Program
The season for landscape waste collection will take from April 1st through November 30th each year. Landscape waste collection will take place on the same day as refuse/recycling collection each week with the following options available.
Pay Per Bag/Sticker Program
All properly prepared containers (plastic containers and kraft type bags not exceeding 32 gallons in size of or 50 pounds in weight) set out for collection with a prepaid sticker will be collected.
Tree limbs, branches or brush must be cut to no more than four feet in length, bundled no greater than two feet in diameter and not to exceed 50 pounds each.

Landscape Waste Collection, Bulk & Oversized Item Disposal, and More
Subscription Program
Each household can subscribe for landscape waste collection service for a flat annual rate. This rate will cover up to ten (10) plastic containers or kraft type bags per week not exceeding 32 gallons each. Anything above ten (10) containers will require a prepaid landscape waste sticker to be affixed to each container.
Christmas Trees
Christmas trees will be collected on your normal solid waste collection day between January 2nd and January 25th at no additional charge.
Curbside Leaf Collection
Groot will provide leaf vacuum collection services each fall. This collection is for leaves only (no branches or grass). The schedule shall be outlined through notification by the Township. Groot asks that residents rake all leaves intended for collection within three feet of the curb.
Bulk & Oversized Item Disposal
The program includes collection of one bulk item on a weekly basis at no additional cost (this does not include appliances or oversized/overweight items).
Bulk items include: boxes, crates, furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance. Exceptions include items which are banned from direct disposal into a landfill. (appliances, tires, car batteries, TV’s, electronic waste).
Oversized and overweight items are any single large or extra heavy item that requires Groot to schedule a special pick-up. An example of an oversized item is a piano, hot tub, or any item that requires two or more people to lift. There will be an additional fee per item.

Senior Citizens Discount
Single-family households where the head of the household is age 65 or older, are eligible for a discounted collection rate for the curbside collection program. Please apply for senior discount by sending proof of age with a valid ID to [email protected].
Construction Demolition Debris
All material must be cut to no more than 4 feet in length and no larger than 2 feet in diameter. For the safety of the collector, all debris must be bagged or bundled and free of nails and sharp objects not exceeding 45 pounds.
White Goods/Appliances
Groot will collect refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, dehumidifiers, and other white goods for an additional fee. Residents must call Groot at 847-693-2700 to schedule collection of white goods. Items should not be placed at the curb until the evening before the scheduled collection.

E-Waste Collection & Holidays Observed
E-Waste Collection
Residents may opt to have Groot provide curbside collection of up to six electronic items on the second Friday of each month. Contact Groot 24 hours in advance of the designated service day to schedule collection of e-waste items. Items requiring more than one person to collect (including televisions over 50 pounds) will require an additional fee.
Holidays Observed
If the holiday falls on a weekday, on or before your scheduled collection, service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the holiday week. If the holiday falls on Sunday, it will be observed on Monday and service will be delayed one day the entire week.
