Listed below are items accepted with your household garbage collection. For additional details, please visit the City of Naperville website.
- White Goods
- Large Items - Up to two bulk items (excluding appliances and oversized or overweight items) may be discarded per week.
- Bulk items include boxes, barrels, crates, furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be lifted by one driver without assistance.
- Excluded items include materials banned from landfill disposal, such as appliances, tires, car batteries, televisions, and electronic waste.
- Paint
- Paint cans must be empty or completely dried out, with lids removed, before collection.
Collection begins no earlier than 6:00 AM. Please place all carts and containers at the curb by 6:00 AM on your scheduled service day. For service days, please refer to the calendar of service days.

Yard Waste will require a sticker on each biodegradable bag.
- During the month of November, Yard Waste is collected without stickers at no charge to residents.
- Food waste may be added to Yard Waste and will only be picked up during the Yard Waste season.
- Brush must be bundled and have a sticker attached at all times.
The weekly yard waste collection program runs from mid-March to mid-December each year.
Groot offers two Yard Waste collection options for Naperville residents:
• 95-gallon Yard Waste cart
• Yard waste stickers for residential containers (available as needed)
Containers must be either 32-gallon paper yard waste bags or clearly marked 32-gallon cans.
Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas trees are collected at no charge during the first two weeks of January.
Up to two items per week are included with service. One appliance per week is included, but it must be scheduled in advance.
- Limited quantities of remodeling and construction materials (rolled carpeting, bathroom fixtures, cabinets, wood, or drywall) will be collected weekly at no additional charge. All material must be cut into sections no longer than 4 feet in length, no more than 2 feet in diameter, and weigh no more than 60 pounds each.
- A maximum of two units may be discarded per week. Accepted combinations include two 32-gallon containers, two bundles, two carpet rolls, or a combination of these items, provided the total does not exceed two units.
- Two 32-gallon carts, 2 rolls of carpet, or any combination is included with service. Weight limit is 60 lbs.
