Village of Glenview Trash and Recycling Services

Glenview

Collection Days are Monday through Friday.

Standard program:

  • Residents may place an unlimited amount of refuse at the curb each week. Residents are required to use Village-provided standardized containers for refuse and any extra waste should be placed in bags only at the curb next to the container. No personal containers or old Groot containers are allowed.
  • Refuse, recycling and yard waste collection will occur only once per week.
  • All refuse, recycling and yard waste carts must be out no later than 7:00 a.m.

Senior Program:
Residents will need to be 65 years old or older to qualify for a 10% senior discount. Seniors who currently receive a discount will continue to do so regardless of their age.

Please call Groot at 847-734-6400 for details to apply for the discount. Residents may also visit Village Hall to apply and can call 847-724-1700 to work with one of their customer service representatives.

Electronic Waste Collection - "e-waste":

The Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act prohibits any person from allowing or to cause mixing of any of the items listed with municipal waste that is intended for disposal at a landfill.

Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must call in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.

All items collected will be recycled and rendered inoperable. Due to the sensitive nature of some electronic items (computer hard drives or storage devices), we prefer to pick up items from the front, side, or top of drive locations.

Customers also have the option to bring their items directly to drop-off sites throughout the area, most of which are for no charge. Please visit the where and how page of our site and click on your county and then your town to search for area drop–off locations.

Leaves

Landscape Waste:
Households have two options for landscape waste collection:

  • Pay by the Bag:
Residents may choose to pay by the bag using 30-gallon yard waste bags and yard waste stickers. Households may place an unlimited number of stickered yard waste bags at the curb each week.
  • Yard Waste Subscription Program:
Glenview residents have the option to enroll for the Yard Waste Subscription Program. Residents who elect the subscription program will be limited to a leased 95-gallon cart or four (4) bags of yard waste per week. Additional bags outside of the cart or exceeding the four (4) bag limit must have a prepaid sticker. Subscription yard waste customers may place an unlimited number of un-stickered bags filled with leaves only during the month of November.

Landscape waste that is too bulky to fit into a leased cart or bag (i.e., branches or brush) may be bundled and tied with twine. Bundles should not exceed 50 lbs., 2 feet in diameter, or 4 feet long. Each bundle requires one yard waste sticker.

Grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden debris, weeds, fruits, seeds, stalks, vines are acceptable landscape items. Landscape does not include wood timbers, plastic edging, plant pots or trays, fertilizer or landscape material bags, landscape fabric, root sections, sand, gravel, sod, firewood, rocks, bark, wood chips, excess amounts of dirt or animal waste.
