Glenview

Yard waste collection runs April 1st through November 30th each year. Glenview residents have the follow options for yard waste collection:

Pay by the bag sticker program: An unlimited amount of properly prepared yard waste bags or resident owned 33 gallon rigid containers (not exceeding 50 pounds in weight) will be collected curbside each week as long as a prepaid landscape waste sticker is affixed to each container.

Grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden debris, weeds, fruits, seeds, stalks, vines, bark and wood chips may be placed at the curb on the regularly scheduled pick up day in biodegradable paper “kraft” bags or containers not to exceed 33 gallons in size or 50 pounds. Bags are preferred to be rolled and crimped closed and be easily lifted to waist height and must not exceed 50lbs.

‍Subscription Program: For an annual fee,  households subscribing to the subscription program allows up to four 30 gallon bags (or one (1) 95 gallon Groot provided cart for an additional fee) placed out for collection each week without the use of stickers. Additional yard waste bags beyond the 4 allowed (or outside of the Groot provided 95 gallon cart) will require a yard waste sticker affixed to each item.

One Bulk item per week is allowed such as Furniture (couch, dresser, chair) Mattress and box spring, lawn mower, bicycle, grill etc.

Oversized/Overweight Items: Some items are just too big or heavy for our drivers to handle without special equipment, in that case your driver may leave it so special arrangements can be made. In this event special charges will apply. Please contact us to check first if you think what you have placed out falls in this category.

State laws require us to collect any "white good" type of appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, washers etc. separately and recycle them. There is a fee per item for collection and you are required to call the office to schedule and make arrangements for payment.

Up to 1 cubic yard (3' x 3' x 3') of miscellaneous debris or construction material will be collected each week at no additional charge. Construction type debris should be stacked or bundled in lengths no longer than 4 feet and no larger than 2 feet in diameter. Carpeting should be in rolls no longer than 4 feet long and two feet in diameter and taped. In general try and keep any loose material bundled and neat so we can pick up. Stone, concrete, and dirt can only be picked up in containers and cannot weigh more than 45lbs. per container. If more than 1 cubic yard please call Groot to arrange pickup. Additional charges apply.

If you find you need extra rubbish picked up all at one time there will be an extra charge and you must contact us to arrange scheduling and payment. If you choose to have your clean-up done on a day other than your normal service day an extra trip fee will be charged.

Tough Items: Fluorescent bulbs, needles, paint, tires etc... create special problems, please click here for help.

Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, mixing electronics with regular landfill waste is prohibited. All collected items are securely recycled and made inoperable. For sensitive electronics like hard drives, we offer convenient front, side, or drive-up pickups. You can also drop off items at local collection sites, many free of charge. Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must contact us in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.
