Curbside Collection Program
Residents will be required to have their containers at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on their designated collection day.
- Residents will be provided with one (1) refuse cart (35, 65, or 95 gallon). Residents will keep their current recycle cart.
- Refuse outside the cart will be collected as long as it is properly prepared (35 gallon container, smaller rigid container or plastic bag not to exceed 50lbs) and a prepaid sticker affixed to each item.
- Additional 65 or 95 gallon recycling cart rentals are available for an annual fee.
- The Groot app is available to view your next collection date, receive important messages from Groot, search the Waste Wizard for items that are recyclable, pay your bill, and contact our customer service department.
- Anything outside the container must be stickered.
Senior Citizens Discount
Single-family households where the head of the household is age 65 or older, are eligible for a discounted collection rate for the 35 gallon refuse cart. Proof of age and home ownership may be presented to the City of Batavia Utility Billing office (100 N. Island Ave.). City staff will then contact Groot on your behalf.
Unlimited recyclable materials are collected on your current day of service. Recyclable materials in the cart do not need to be separated from each other. Please place only approved recycling items in the recycling cart. The collector is trained to check the contents of the cart. If there are foreign materials present, the cart will be left with a violation notice.

Collection Dates: April 1 – November 30th. Batavia residents will have the option to choose between a sticker and subscription program for yard waste.
Prepaid Disposal Sticker Option for Yard Waste
An unlimited amount of properly prepared yard waste bags or resident owned 35 gallon rigid containers will be collected curbside each week as long as a prepaid landscape waste sticker is affixed to each container.
Cart Subscription Service Option for Yard Waste
A 65 gallon or 95 gallon cart designated for yard waste will be provided. Any yard waste outside the cart will be collected as long as it is properly prepared and a disposal sticker affixed to each item. The customer will be billed an annual fee for this program per season.
Free Leaf Collection
During the month of December residents can place leaves only in yard waste bags on their scheduled collection date. Each bag will not require a sticker for collection.
Christmas Tree Collection
Groot Industries will provide free collection of one Christmas tree per resident each year at no additional cost. Collection will take place during the first two weeks in January each year.
The program includes collection of unlimited bulk items each week as long as a prepaid disposal sticker is affixed to each item. “Large Household Item or Bulk Item” shall mean any discarded and unwanted large household furnishings, including, but not limited to: stoves, trash compactors, pianos, organs, tables, chairs, mattresses, box springs, bookcases, sofas, and similar furniture.
White goods
Each of these items are to be considered a “disposal unit” and shall require one disposal sticker. Tires are accepted as long as they are removed from the rim.
Oversized and overweight items are any single large or extra heavy item, such as a piano, hot tub, etc. requires Groot to schedule a special pick-up. There will be an additional fee per item. Please contact Groot at (630) 892-9294 for more details and pricing.
Unlimited collection with service. Each item must be stickered and scheduled for pickup in advance.
All material must be cut to no more than 4 feet in length and no larger than 2 feet in diameter. For the safety of the collector, all debris must be bagged or bundled and free of nails and sharp objects not exceeding 25 pounds. Please contact Groot at (630) 892-9294 for more details and pricing.
Groot will provide curbside collection of e-waste on your collection day for a prepaid additional fee. Residents must call Groot 24 hours in advance at (630) 892-9294 to schedule collection of e-waste.

- You may place your account on hold for up to 4 months per calendar year. "Low Volume" program cannot place vacation holds.
