Refuse Program
Residents of Hainesville can choose from the below options for our refuse service.

Collection day is Friday each week for refuse, recycling, and yard waste.

Unlimited Curbside Collection Program:
Residents will be required to have their containers at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

  • Residents will be provided with one (1) 95 gallon refuse cart and one (1) 65 gallon recycling cart at no charge
  • Additional residential waste outside the cart must be containerized and placed in cans or bags not exceeding 33 gallons in size and 50 pounds in weight
  • Additional refuse and recycling cart rentals are available for an annual fee
  • One bulk item per week will be collected at no charge on your regularly scheduled collection day. Additional items will be collected for an additional fee
  • Appliances will be a per item fee and requires a call in to Groot for special pickup at 847-693-2700. Televisions will be charged separately
  • 10% senior discount for residents 65 years & older. Please apply for senior discount at Village Hall

Senior Citizens Discount: Single-family households where the head of the household is age 65 or older, are eligible for a discounted collection rate for the Curbside Collection Program. Proof of age and home ownership must be presented at Village Hall with a valid ID. Please contact the Village for details.

Yard Waste

Yard Waste Collection Program April 1-November 30th

Hainesville residents will receive weekly collection of an unlimited amount of properly prepared landscape waste on the same day as refuse and recycling collection. Landscape waste should be placed by each resident at the street side in front of the property by 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

Landscape waste should be placed in biodegradable “Kraft” type bags not to exceed 33 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight. Metal or plastic cans not exceeding 33 gallons in size or 50 pounds in weight will also be collected.

If the landscape waste cannot reasonably be placed in bags or cans, it must be securely tied with biodegradable string or twine in bundles not to exceed 4 feet in length, 24 inches in diameter, and 50 pounds in weight.

Christmas trees for all residential customers will be collected each year at no additional charge on your collection day between January 2nd and the last regular collection date in January.

Bulky/Oversized Items

The program includes collection of one bulk item per week (not appliances or oversized/overweight items) at no additional cost. Additional items will be collected for an additional fee.

Bulk items include: boxes, crates, furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance. Exceptions include items which are banned from direct disposal into a landfill. (appliances, tires, car batteries, TV’s, electronic waste).

Oversized and overweight items are any single large or extra heavy item that requires Groot to schedule a special pick-up. An example of an oversized item is a piano, hot tub, or any item that requires two or more people to lift. There will be an additional fee per item. Appliances

Groot will collect refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, dehumidifiers, and other white goods for a per item fee. Residents must call Groot at 847-693-2700 to schedule collection of white goods. Items should not be placed at the curb until the evening before the scheduled collection.

Construction Debris

All material must be cut to no more than 4 feet in length and no larger than 2 feet in diameter (2 yard minimum). For the safety of the collector, all debris must be bagged or bundled and free of nails and sharp objects not exceeding 25 pounds.
