‍Landscape waste collection will be April 1st – November 30^th annually.

Residents will have two options for the collection of yard waste.

Pay Per Bag Option: All properly prepared containers (plastic containers with an “X” marked on the container in clear view) and kraft type bags not exceeding33 gallons or 50 pounds in weight will be collected as long as there is a prepaid yard waste sticker affixed to each item.

Yard Waste Subscription: Resident may choose a 65 or 95 gallon cart subscription for an annual fee. Residents choosing this option may mix food scrap with their yard waste. Please call Groot at 630-892-9294 for more details.

Brush and branches up to 4 feet must be bundled with twine(wire or plastic is not acceptable) 4’ or less in length and 2’ or less in diameter at the base and easily lifted to waist height. Landscape waste does not include wood timbers, plastic edging, plant pots or trays, fertilizer or landscape material bags, landscape fabric, root sections, sand, gravel, sod, firewood or animal waste.

Residents will be provided collection of one bulk item, under 50 pounds, on a weekly basis which can be safely collected by one Groot collector at no charge. Items exceeding 50 lbs in weight will be an additional charge.

Bulk items include: boxes, barrels, crates, household furniture, and similar items that do not fit into a proper container and can be collected/lifted by one driver without assistance. Exceptions include items which are banned from direct disposal into a landfill (appliances, tires, car batteries and electronic waste).

Oversized/overweight items are any single large or extra heavy item that will require the resident to schedule a special pick-up and will be collected for an additional fee. An example of an oversized item is a piano, hot tub or any item that requires two or more people to lift. A per item fee of will apply for each oversized item and residents will be required to call Groot to schedule a pick in advance.

White Goods

Groot will provide collection of such items on a weekly basis with residents calling to schedule a special collection. Regardless of size and weight, all appliances/white goods must be called in for a scheduled pick up.

Groot will collect debris from small remodeling projects each week for an additional fee. It must be cut to no more than 4 feet in length and no larger than 2 feet in diameter and bundled or placed in an approved container that does not exceed 50 pounds in weight.

Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, mixing electronics with regular landfill waste is prohibited. All collected items are securely recycled and made inoperable. For sensitive electronics like hard drives, we offer convenient front, side, or drive-up pickups. You can also drop off items at local collection sites, many free of charge. Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must contact us in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.
