The Village of Volo offers comprehensive waste management services, including weekly refuse collection with a 95-gallon cart and unlimited recycling pickup with a 65-gallon cart. Residents can also take advantage of e-waste recycling, bulk item disposal, and seasonal yard waste collection from April through November.
All residents will be provided a 95 gallon refuse cart. Please contact the Village of Volo at (847)740-6982 if you need a refuse cart or to sign up for service

Yard waste season is from April 1 through November 30. You may purchase yard waste stickers at Village Hall or at Jewel Foods, 1350 US Route 12 in Fox Lake. Grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden debris, weeds, fruits, seeds, stalks, vines are acceptable landscape items. Landscape does not include wood timbers, plastic edging, plant pots or trays, fertilizer or landscape material bags, landscape fabric, root sections, sand, gravel, sod, firewood, rocks, wood chips, bark, excess amounts of dirt or animal waste.
One bulk item per week is included with service.
Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, mixing electronics with regular landfill waste is prohibited. All collected items are securely recycled and made inoperable. For sensitive electronics like hard drives, we offer convenient front, side, or drive-up pickups. You can also drop off items at local collection sites, many free of charge. Groot Industries offers collection of these items directly from your home for an additional fee; however, you must contact us in advance to schedule a pick-up and make arrangements.
