South Elgin residents can enjoy comprehensive trash and recycling services with convenient curbside collection options. Groot Industries provides 95-gallon trash and 65-gallon recycling toters, along with yard waste and bulk item collections. Additional services include e-waste disposal, appliance pickup, and construction debris removal.
Service includes collection of unlimited household garbage. Containers or bags must not 32 gallon or 45 pounds. One bulk item or one cubic yard of construction material will be collected each week for no additional charge. Refuse is required to be out by 6:00 a.m. each week.
Senior Discount
A 10% discount is available for residents over the age of 65. Proof of age must be sent to Groot Industries to the attention of the billing department.
Unlimited recycling service is provided. Personal container must not exceed 32 gallons or 45 pound and must be marked clearly "Recyclables Only". All recyclable material may be placed in one container, no sorting is needed.

Available by "Subscription Only".Collections starts April 1st and ends November 30th, there are no credits or prorates for residents that sign up in the middle of the season. All yard material must be placed inside the 95-gallon container provided. Tree limbs, branches or brush must be cut to no more than 4 feet in length, bundled no greater than 2 feet in diameter and placed in the container provided. Yard waste in plastic bags will Not be collected.
One bulk item per week allowed, such as Furniture (couch, dresser, chair) Mattress and box spring, lawn mower, bicycle, grill etc
Oversized/Overweight Items
Any single large or extra heavy item that requires us to schedule a special pick up to remove will require a one time fee. Residents are required to call and schedule a pick up in advance.
White goods such as refrigerators, ovens, washers etc. require a special pick up and separate disposal is required by the state. There is a one time fee per item for collection and residents must call and schedule a pick up in advance.
Up to 1 cubic yard (3' x 3' x 3') of miscellaneous debris or construction material will be collected each week at no additional charge. Construction type debris should be stacked or bundled in lengths no longer than 4 feet and no larger than 2 feet in diameter. Carpeting should be in rolls no longer than 4 feet long and two feet in diameter and taped. In general try and keep any loose material bundled and neat so we can pick up. Stone, concrete, and dirt can only be picked up in containers and cannot weigh more than 45lbs. per container. If more than 1 cubic yard please call Groot to arrange pickup. Additional charges apply.
Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, mixing electronics with regular landfill waste is prohibited. All collected items are securely recycled and made inoperable. For sensitive electronics like hard drives, we offer convenient front, side, or drive-up pickups. You can also drop off items at local collection sites, many free of charge. Residents are required to call in prior to stop service. Vacation hold must be a minimum of 4 weeks and there is no maximum. Residents must provide a return date when they call to stop service and all balances must be paid before the hold can be applied; credit will be issued the following billing cycle.
