Refuse Program
Residents of Hanover Park can choose from the below options for our refuse service.

Service covers unlimited household garbage collection—a 95-gallon cart is provided. Residents may request a different size. We try to be regular with our collection times but we may arrive earlier or later on your collection day, please have your material out by 6:00 AM to ensure pick up.

Recycling Pickup Program
Residents of Hanover Park can choose from the below options for our recycling service.

Service covers unlimited recycling service—a 65-gallon cart is provided. All recyclables may be mixed together in one container, no sorting is needed. Do Not put your recyclables in plastic bags. Click here for a list of Recyclable Materials

  • Container Requirements

    Must be 35 gallons or smaller and weigh under 50 lbs.

  • Additional Trash Carts

    Available for purchase only (rental not offered).

  • Additional Recycling Carts

    Carts are available, but customers must enroll in a new program for each extra cart.

Yard Waste

Collections begin April 1st and end November 30th, no credits or prorates are available for residents that sign up in the middle of the season. All yard waste material must be placed inside generic yard waste bags. Any brush or branches outside of the bag must be cut down to 4 feet in length and bundled no greater than 2 feet in diameter. You will be required to call the office before your service day as there will be an extra charge for each extra bundle or bag. A 95-gallon container is available for customers to rent—please contact the office to learn more. Yard waste in plastic bags will NOT be collected.

Will Call Yard Waste

If you would like to have your yard waste collected occasionally, we provide a "Will Call" yard waste program. If you prefer to do spring and fall clean-ups, and leave clippings the rest of the year, you may find this very cost effective. Simply call in prior to your normal collection day and arrange for payment. Charges are per bag or bundle placed out for collection. Reminder: Only biodegradable paper type yard waste bags may be used.

  • Only during month November.
  • Place in bag at curb, no sticker needed
Bulky/Oversized Items

Unlimited bulk pickup is included with service. Please stack or bundle construction-type debris in lengths no longer than 4 feet and no larger than 2 feet in diameter.

  • A box spring and mattress is considered one large item.
  • Carpeting should be in rolls no longer than 4 feet, two feet in diameter, and taped. Five rolls is considered one large item.
  • Please ensure that all loose materials are neatly bundled to allow for safe and efficient collection.

Certain items may be too large or heavy for standard collection. If this occurs, the driver will leave the item(s) so special arrangements can be made. Additional charges will apply. Please contact us if you believe the items you have set out fall into this category.

Appliances

A per‑item collection fee applies. Customers must contact our office to schedule the pickup and arrange payment.

Construction Debris

Two rolls of carpet, one–35 gallon container, or the equivalent, is included in your service. Anything in addition will incur an additional fee per yard and must be contained properly. Please contact our office for more details.

Special Pick-Up & Temporary Containers

If you need additional material collected all at once, an extra charge will apply. Please contact our office to schedule the pickup and arrange payment.

If you would like your additional collection picked-up on a day other than your regular collection day, an additional trip fee will be assessed.

Christmas Trees

Christmas trees will be collected at no charge for the first two weeks of January.

Brush

  • Each bundle must be bundled and tied, and should not exceed 4 ft x 2 ft
  • Each bundle must be stickered
  • If you're not able to bundle your items, the Village of Hanover Park offers brush collection that does not require bundling. Please visit their website for details.
Electronic Waste Collection - "E-Waste"

Under the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act, electronics may not be disposed of with regular household waste.

For devices containing sensitive data—such as computers and hard drives—we offer convenient pick-up services or you may drop-off electronics at participating local collection sites, many of which accept items at no cost.

    *Collections will be delayed one day after a holiday
    *If the holiday falls on a Sunday there will be no collection on Monday and services will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
    *If the holiday falls on a Saturday there will be no change to your regular pick up day
    *If a holiday falls on a weekday service will be delayed one day later for the remainder of the week.

  • Vacation Holds

    Residents are required to call Groot PRIOR to stopping service for extended vacations. Vacation hold must be a minimum of 4 weeks and there is not a maximum. Residents must provide a return date and all balances must be paid before the hold can be applied; credit will be issued the following billing cycle.
