Our residential services began over 50 years ago with C. Groot Automatic Disposal and later Haulaway Disposal Company. Over the years, over municipal solid waste collection division has grown from two municipalities to over 34 municipalities.

Since the 1940's, the evolution of how solid waste is collected from residents has seen a dramatic change. The early years of municipal collection brought the collection of ash from mini incinerators found behind homes of each resident to fully automated refuse and recycling collections we provide today. Groot Industries has been on the forefront of recycling collection and processing technologies. We were the first in the Midwest to develop a fully automated recycling facility that sorts and separates paper and commingled material from a single-stream (combined) recycling materials.

We pride ourselves in quality collection which in turn develops long term relationships in the communities we serve.
